and cal-trans have a lot of investigating to do. is a vital link for for hundreds of thousands of people driving in and out of san francisco every day. with kron 4's charles clifford. who has more on what cal-trans found when >> reporter: just minutes after bay bridge tower number 6 was struck, caltrans dispatched a structures maintenance team to look for damage. this is video from sky 7 hd abc7 news of crews inspecting the bridge and the protective fender that surrounds the tower at the waterline. >> the very first thing our inspectors look for when they get out there is to make sure the bridge is safe. the initial investigation should that the fender took the brunt of the allusion and preformed as it was designed. about 30 feet of the fender has been damaged and will need to be replaced. it was damaged in a way that it was supposed to be. there's no structural damage to the bay bridge as a result of this allusion. so there will be no repair work done to the bay bridge itself, other than to fix the fender system. >> reporter: caltrans says they will also be checking the systems designed

redskins. former cal bear marshawn lynch ran for 132 yards and a score as seattle broke an eight game postseason losing streak on the road they'll go on to face the top-seed atlanta falcons next sunday. in the early game. the baltimore ravens played host to the city's former franchise. the indianapolis colts it was the final home game for star linebacker ray lewis. who is retiring after the season. the ravens sent him out a winner. by beating the colts 24-9. the loss cut short an impressive season for the colts. who went from last place to the playoffs. as their head coach chuck while battling leukemia. baltimore travels to denver to take on the broncos next saturday. and of course the other big game on saturday - san francisco 49ers host the green bay packers!

was flooded. cal trans crews set up barriers to warn drivers of the flooded conditions. you can see the water was high enough to make it to the top of the curb. puddles sprung up in several places and water splashed with the passing of each car. merchants in san anselmo weren't taking any chances. they had sand bags stationed outside their shops just to be on the safe side. a quick look at the san anselmo creekthe water was moving at moderate speed and, fortunatly, the level stayed well within the comfort zone. there were not very many pedestrians out and about on saturday but those who ventured into the elements were wise to bring a big umbrella to keep dry. >> let's take a quick look outside this morning. mostly clear conditions. taking a look at stormtracker 4. livermore, dry the satellite and radar and futurecast we can start to see some breaks of sunshine. and further clearing in the north bay. as report towards 6:00 p.m., we are expecting clear skies. there is a bit of a warming trend for the past one week. mid 40's in napa, vallejo. and 47 degrees in san francisco. 46 in the san jose.

of representatives. you would not expect radal cal action on guns to go through the house of representatives. in fact, i'm not sure i'd expect it to be proposed by this administration. i do expect there to be movement on high-capacity magazines, on being able to trace data. i do expect there to be movement on closing what some people call the gun show loophole. what really means is private transactions don't have essentially any real regulation around them. it's much larger than gun shows and about 30% to 40% of all guns are sold this way. and the assault rifle ban, that was a ban that had a lot of holes in it in the first place. it had a very difficult time defining what was and wasn't an assault weapon. it had a lot of cosmetic features to it. they tried to do it based on what they looked. i think it would be important to tighten that down, but i think most people think it was more significant in tightening the assault weapons ban. the final thing i'd mention is that we've had a very real success in the last couple of decades cutting gun death by focusing on illegal gun possession in law enforcemen
